Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho Her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. The album was released when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the web, including her own launched single Bound. In 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album in the track Sweat It Out on the 21st of July. The following year, her songs were circulating among the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him for some potential references to Rihanna. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the Album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. Then, in October 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared on the track Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on the 5th of September. In November, the singer released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November, she released 13 two brand new singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of the 16th of November, and released the song as a solo single for her first album. The track was supported by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in just a week. She was the support act for 6LACK as part of their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
